Students throng book fair on varsity campus
Peshawar: The students of NWFP Agricultural University and other institutions on
the Peshawar University campus thronged the three-day book fair that started on
Tuesday.
Organised by the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), a student
organisation, the event was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the University
Prof Dr Said Khan Khalil. 27 stalls had been set up where books of various
subjects, particularly agriculture were available on subsidised
prices.
Separate outlets for female students had also been put in place.
At the exclusively women stall, cloths and books were displayed for sale. While
inaugurating the event, the vice chancellor lauded the efforts of the
organisers. He said such positive activities were necessary for promotion of a
positive environment for education in the university.
The VC said that he
had spent most of the time of his life in the university as a student, teacher
and now the vice chancellor, but he had never seen such a beautiful and
well-organised programme.
He specially appreciated the separate stall for
woman students. IJT University Campus Nazim Sohail Ahmad
Baber Rahi said his organisation had always been arranging such events for the
welfare of the students.
A book fair was arranged at the Khyber Medical
College recently where medical, Islamic and general books and CDs were put on
sale at cheaper prices for the medical students, he said. Similar events would
be organised soon at NWFP University of Engineering and Technology and
University of Peshawar, he added. The News
