LUMS cancels mid-term exams
Lahore, April 24, 2008: The LUMS administration on Wednesday cancelled the ongoing
mid-term examinations after one of its students committed suicide on Tuesday.
The administration also met students and discussed the university's grading
system. A fourth year LUMS student hanged himself in his dorm room on Tuesday
after getting bad grades. The boy was from Karachi and his father took back the
body on Wednesday. The atmosphere on campus was sad and students were seen
huddled together discussing the incident. Daily Times

Lahore: The Punjab University Examination Department on Wednesday
declared the results of MSc (Hons) Space Science, MSc Space Science (Regular),
Diploma in Sindhi, MA French, Diploma in German and Diploma in
Spanish.
According to a press statement, five candidates appeared in MSc
(Hons) Space Science (semester system) session 2005-2007 and four were declared
successful while the result of one candidate was late. Roll numbers of
successful candidates are: S02-01, S02-02, S02-06 and S02-07.
In MSc
Space Science (Regular), semester system, session 2005-2007, 24 candidates
appeared and 19 of them were declared successful while the result of two
candidates was late. Roll numbers of successful candidates are: 501, 503, 504,
506, 507, 508, 509, 510, 511, 512, 513, 515, 516, 519, 520, 521, 522, 523 and
524. Three candidates appeared in Diploma in Sindhi, semester system, session
2006-2007 and two were declared successful.
Five candidates appeared in
MA French, semester system, session 2005-2007 and all were decaled successful.
Four candidates appeared in the exam of Diploma in German, session
2006-2007 and all remained successful.
Nine candidates appeared in the
exam of Diploma in Spanish, session 2006-2007 and eight of them were declared
successful while the result of one candidate was late. Roll numbers of the
successful candidates are: 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
LLB admission forms
Lahore: The Punjab University Examinations Department has issued the schedule of submission of
admission forms of Bachelor of Law (LLB) Part-I, Part-II and Part-III, Annual
Examination 2008. The admission forms of Part-I exam can be submitted with
single fee till 16-06-08, of Part-II till 19-06-08 and of Part-III till 18-07-08
while the last date for submission of Part-I admission forms with double fee is
30-06-08, of Part-II 03-07-08 and of Part-III 04-08-08. LLB Part-I exam will
commence from 22-07-08, Part-II exam from 23-07-08 and Part-III exam from
26-08-08.
B Pharmacy exam
Lahore: The Punjab University Examinations Department
has issued a notification regarding commencement of B Pharmacy, final
professional, 2nd annual examination 2006. According to a press release issued
on Wednesday, the said exam will commence from May 19. Meanwhile, Doctor of
Pharmacy (Pharm D), first Professional, 2nd annual examination 2007 will
commence from May 12.
767 teachers dismissed for being absent
Lahore: While taking action on the reports of monitoring officers of Chief
Minister Monitoring Force for Education, district authorities of the Education
Department has dismissed 767 teachers on accounts of absenteeism.
According to DGPR handout Deputy Director Chief Minister's Monitoring
Team, Khalid Mahmood said 72 teachers had been removed from service in district
Mandi Bahauddin, 64 in Gujranwala, 47 in Muzafargarh, 46 in Faisalabad, 43 in
Lahore, 41 in Vehari, 32 in Toba Tek Singh, 30 in Khushab, 29 in Multan, 28 in
Narowal, 28 in Pakpattan, 23 in Sahiwal, 22 in Kasur, 22 in Rawalpindi, 20 in
Chakwal, 20 in Sargodha, 19 in Attock, 19 in Gujrat, 15 in Jhelum, 30 in
Mianwali, 13 in Sialkot, 12 in D.G. Khan, 12 in Layyah, 12 in Lodhran, 10 in
Khanewal, 12 in Sheikhupura, 9 in Bahawalpur, 9 in Bhakar, 7 in Hafizabad, 6 in
Nankana Sahib, 6 in Rahim Yar Khan, 5 in Jhang, 2 in Bahawalnagar and 2 teachers
