AIOU GRE/GAT test on 25th
Islamabad, Apr 16: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) would conduct GRE/GAT
Test for admissions in PhD programmes (M Phil based), MS/ M Phil
(leading to PhD), MS/ M Phil and M Sc (Honors) for the spring semester,
2010 under National Testing Service (NTS) arrangement on April 25
(Sunday), announced AIOU Director Admissions Sohail Nazir Rana on

NUST holds postgraduate convocation
Islamabad: The sixth postgraduate convocation of the National University of Science
and Technology (NUST) was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre on
Thursday, says an ISPR press release. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS)
General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was the chief guest on the occasion. The
COAS appreciated the achievements of NUST as institution of
international repute and felicitated graduating students and their
parents on their success. Earlier, he awarded degrees to the graduating
students and medals to those who had achieved distinction. The ceremony
was attended by a large number of civil and military officials and
parents of the graduating students.

GIKI holds career fair
Swabi: Representatives of more than 50 national and multinational
companies participated in 'Industrial Open House and Career Fair'
organised by Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) of Engineering Sciences
and Technology. The 'Open House' was inaugurated by Janos
Faher, chief executive of MOL Pakistan, as chief guest at the inaugural
ceremony. The main purpose of the event was to provide a meeting place
to the students and their prospective employers. A poster
presentation session was held, in which students presented their
final-year projects. The interested employers got an opportunity to
evaluate the projects of the students and explore the prospects of
their employment. The event brought together professionals from
the industries/research organisations to meet the academia and students
and they called for boosting 'linkages' between academia and
entrepreneurs. Janos Faher visited projects of the students
and appreciated their work and skills. Addressing the inaugural
ceremony, he said every project was outstanding, showing that the
educational standard and confidence among the GIKI students was

100 lecturers found absent from colleges
Rawalpindi: Higher Education Deputy Secretary (DS) Mukhtar Shah on
Thursday raided various colleges on the special instructions of Punjab
Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and found more than 100 lecturers
absent from their duty. The initial report about the matter has been
sent to the Chief Minister. The DS visited Government Postgraduate
College for Women Satellite Town, Government Degree College Murree Road
and others. He has asked the Directorate of Colleges to submit a
detailed report about the lecturers who were found absent during their
duty hours. app

FG Public School no. 10 student distinction
Rawalpindi: The students of FG Public School no. 10
(First Shift), Wah Cantonment, Muhammad Fahad Javid got first position
in Wah region by obtaining 547 marks while Abdul Mannan got 515 marks
and bagged over all third position in the Primary Standard Examination
2010, conducted by the Directorate of Federal Government Educational
Institutions (Cantt/Garrison), says a press release. Overall eight
students of the school got 'A-1' grade and 17 got 'A' grade in the
Primary Standard Scholarship Examination. GSO-1 (Wah region) Lieutenant
Colonel Tahir Mehmood distributed prizes among the high achievers and
showed his gratification for the excellent performance by the students
