Punjab schools' classroom activities

Classroom activities to resumetoday
Lahore, April 20: Classroom activities in all Punjab schools will be resumed on Friday (today) while candles will be lit to create awareness about inequalities in the education system.

Teachers under the banner of the Muttahida Mahaz Asatiza, Punjab chapter, however, decided on Thursday to continue boycott of USE/UPE survey to press for the acceptance of their demands.

From April 23 to 28, educational seminars would be arranged at divisional level all over the province and people belonging to all walks of life would be invited to participate. Muttahida Mahaz Asatiza Punjab chairman Hafiz Abdul Nasir said after a meeting.

Candles would be lit at major intersections in divisional headquarters after sunset from April 30 to May 5.

He said that in case teachers' posts were not upgraded, denial of time scale and change in the curriculum for the sake of change continued, they would hold demonstrations in front of the press clubs all over Punjab on May 2.

"United under one banner, we will continue raising voice against the delaying tactics of bureaucracy to solve even day-to-day problems of our colleagues and deprive them of their lawful rights," said Mr Nasir who was flanked by Sultan Mahmood Akhtar, Hafiz Ghulam Mohyuddin, Abdul Razzaq Niazi and others.

He said the discriminatory treatment being meted out to teachers should come to an end. A ban on casual leave cannot be justified under any law of the land. Dawn
