Thousands fail to appear for exam
Karachi, April 18(The News): Thousands of candidates failed to appear in the SSC Part-II General Group
examinations, 2007, held on Tuesday owing to various reasons, highly placed
sources disclosed.
Many of the students who enrolled
themselves at the eleventh hour were not issued Admit Cards, while others who
did not submit school fees for the month of July as demanded by the Private
schools, or some of those who failed to clear their dues for the whole year,
were also among those barred from appearing in the Class X
exams.
However, arrangements have been made for those students who did
not appear in the exam to appear on Wednesday along with the science group. The
Centre Superintendent was, however, advised to accommodate all those students
who failed to appear in the exams, and a separate script in a separate envelope
will be given to them, to avoid any mixing of Science and General group
students. It must be noted here that it was the English compulsory paper of both
the groups.
Similarly, those students who were not successful in their
class IX examination in English were asked to give appear for their paper along
with those students in the afternoon session.
The exams for the failed
students of Class X exams were held in the second half of the day. The
arrangements for these students were made in the best interests of the students,
to avoid one-year loss, said Controller of Examination (CoE), Salim Khan, to
this correspondent.
However, class X examinations started in the city
with no complaints from any of the 415 examinations centres, said the CoE.
In reply to a query, he denied the possibility that examination paper
had been leaked out, as these examination papers, he said were printed all night
under his supervision.
It was learnt through reliable sources, that 22
schools which were blacklisted last year were also made centres, this year. When
this scribe asked Controller of Examination about this violation, he said, "no
comments".
The Class X Science group exams will be held on Wednesday,
while the Class IX failed students will appear for the exams in the second half
of the day.
