IJT nazim beats up PU guard for 'protocol'
LAHORE, April 24(Daily Times): An Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT)
activist has beaten up the security guard of a Punjab University (PU) hostel for
not giving him 'protocol' and speaking aloud to him.
A PU official,
requesting anonymity, said that that Nadir Niazi, the IJT nazim of the hostel No
2, roughed up the security guard of the hostel, Arshad on Saturday night. The
official said that IJT activist Rab Nawaz who had been expelled from the
university was also present on the occasion.
"The security guard
immediately informed the hostel warden, Prof Saeed Ahmed Nagra, about the
incident. Nagra contacted Hall Council chairman Prof Azhar Ikram to take action
against Nadir," the official added.
The official said that an inquiry
committee had been formed to investigate the matter but no action had been taken
against the IJT activist so far.
Prof Ikram
claimed that the IJT activist had been expelled after investigation. However, PU
registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan denied that any IJT activist had beaten up
a security guard on Saturday night.
