KU briefed LLM students on thesis rules
KARACHI, April 26(Dawn): The University of Karachi on Wednesday asked LLM
(final year) students to strictly observe instructions with regard to
preparation and submission of their thesis for the forthcoming annual
examination.
According to a university notification, the students have
been asked to get their thesis supervised by the approved directors in the list
Annexure-A only. The thesis supervised by the persons other than the approved
directors will not be accepted.
The topic of the thesis and the name of
the director must be intimated to the Dean of Law Faculty on form Annexure-B
before preparation of thesis or at least two months before the notified date of
submission of thesis. The thesis submitted without such intimation will not be
accepted.
The topic of the thesis must be related with any of the 12
subjects taught in LLM (previous and final years). If the students intend to
present their thesis on any topic offered earlier, care must be taken to
highlight the context by a new point of research. For this purpose, they have to
obtain special approval from the Dean of Law Faculty.
Thesis must be
written according to methodology of research along with the reference of books
and case law must be given at the footnote of relevant page with bibliography at
the end. The thesis comprising less than 100 typed pages will not be
accepted.
The students will be required to submit five copies of their
thesis (one for evaluation, one for dean office, one for record for his own
college and two for examiners of viva-voce) to the Controller of Examination,
the University of Karachi, without late fee by August 31, 2007.
With a
late fee of Rs500, the students can submit their thesis by September 15, 2007.
No thesis will be accepted after the notified date. All failure and leftover
students of viva-voce examination shall be required to provide three copies of
their thesis to the Controller of Examinations.
The thesis must contain
the certificate of the director as per form set out in Annexure-C and must be
dated and signed by both the director and the candidate.
