KU student gets interim stay against rustication
Karachi, April 24(The News): The senior Civil Judge East, Surayya Mehboob granted interim stay on Monday
against the rustication of a Karachi University student. The court allowed him
to attend classes and take his semester examinations till a decision in the case
was finally reached.
The suit was filed under section 151 CPC and the
student was represented in the court by Sarwar Mohammad Khan, advocate Sindh
High Court. A press release from Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) said that there
was no advocate to represent the university. Ashfaq Ahmed was rusticated from
the university for two years on the application of a Political Science
department teacher, who had accused the student of throwing a chair while
protesting against the kidnapping of some students and the Four-Year degree
programme. The students appreciated the decision of the court and distributed
sweets to celebrate the occasion.
