HEC scholars offered MS programmes in SK
ISLAMABAD, April 21(Daily Times): The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Thursday
signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Hanyang University, South
Korea, which will offer HEC scholars' placement in MS (engineering) programmes
in the university for the next five years.
The agreement – signed during
the visit of a two-member delegation led by Dr Ki-Jeong Lee, dean, Office of
International Cooperation, Hanyang University – aims at providing opportunities
to the HEC scholars in industrial training. The delegation also held a meeting
with HEC Chairman Professor Dr Attaur Rehman in which the two sides agreed to
explore the possibility of establishing R&D centres for leading Korean
brands such as LG, Samsung, Hyundai, etc, in Pakistan. In addition, the two
countries will introduce research exchange programmes.
The Hanyang
University was also offered to collaborate with any leading South Korean group
of companies for establishing an engineering university in Pakistan. The HEC had
organised two sessions in Islamabad and Karachi in which potential partners got
a chance to know about each other's strengths and encourage links between
Pakistani universities and the Hanyang University.
