NFC College to be given university status: governor
LAHORE, April 24(Daily Times): Punjab Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Maqbool said on Monday the first
decade of the 21-century would be remembered as a golden era in the field of
higher education under the leadership of President Musharraf .
He was
chairing a meeting at the Governor House regarding upgradation of National
Fertilizers Corporation's (NFC) Engineering and Fertilizer Research
Institute.
It was stated that the NFC Engineering and Fertilizer Research
Institute Faisalabad was being upgraded into a university as NFC University of
Engineering and Emerging Technology. The NFC had allocated Rs 700,000,000 for
the purpose. The Punjab government's Accreditation Committee would visit the
institute and the Punjab Assembly after doing legislation in this regard would
award university charter to the NFC Engineering and Fertilizer Research
Institute.
An MoU signing ceremony between NFC Engineering and Fertilizer
Research Institute and Wapda Engineering Academy Faisalabad was also held on the
occasion. Wapda chairman Tariq Hameed said the Wapda Engineering Academy would
provide training to the students of the institute adding that fresh graduate of
electrical engineering would also be provided internship in Wapda.
