Inquiry committee let PU plagiarists off the hook
LAHORE, April 25(Daily Times): The Punjab University (PU) dean of science has accused the
PU inquiry committee of letting the plagiarists off the hook. In a letter to
Governor Lt Gen (r) Arshad Mahmood and the members of the PU syndicate on April
20, Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the committee was working on the behalf of
the PU syndicate, which was the competent authority to proceed with the matter,
and that the Committee was required to complete the inquiry in 45 days according
to law.
He said that the committee violated the law by taking six months to
complete the inquiry against the alleged plagiarists. Dr Kamran said further
that the chairman of the committee was also investigated for plagiarism and an
evidence of aiding and abetting plagiarism was found against Professor Dr Dil
Mohammad. "For some unknown reasons, the report against Dr Dil was shelved," he
added, Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran confirmed that he had
written in to the VC and the syndicate members that he was targeted by the
inquiry committee despite having extended full cooperation to the committee in
connection with the issue.
