First KU PhD in Computer Science
Karachi, April 25(The News): The Board of Advanced Studies and Research, KU awarded its first PhD degree in
Computer Science to Major Afzal Saleemi. The topic of his PhD thesis was 'New
Trends in Smoothing and Filtering of Temporal Data, Using Information
Technology.' Saleemi, a serving major, worked under the supervision of Dr S.M.
Aqil Burney, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science.
Saleemi was
registered at KU as an M.Phil /PhD student in '03 and joined the department in
'04. He began his work in the field of Knowledge and Data Engineering. His work
was mainly focused on Temporal Data bases/Time series to analyse huge data bases
in the field of Business and Scientific disciplines. His focus was on Data
Mining - exploration of knowledge from huge reservoirs of data bases.
