IJT wary of 'vulgarity' on campus
LAHORE, April 18(Daily Times): Girl students of the Punjab University criticised the
administration for promoting 'un-Islamic activities at the varsity' such as
musical nights and music classes at a press conference organised by the Islami
Jamiat Talaba (IJT) at the PU Student-Teacher Centre (STC) on Tuesday.
They said
that the PU administration 'was tarnishing the image of Islam by promoting
un-Islamic activities'. "Many girl students residing in hostels were forced to
participate in a musical night at the Old Campus on Saturday," they alleged.
They said that Rs 5 million were spent on the Pharmacy Festival. "We will not
allow anybody to hold music shows at the varsity," the girl students added.
