HEC to hold video conference on 26th
ISLAMABAD, April 23(Daily Times): The Higher Education
Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the US National Research and Education
Networking Organisation will hold an interactive videoconference on research and
education networks on April 26.
The HEC in a press release on Saturday
said that public sector universities and institutes would be able to use the
video conferencing for the distant learning. Participants in videoconferences
can see and interact with one another through computer-generated content. "This
content can be educational resources, presentation materials, or technical
drawings," said the statement.
The April 26 conference will be beamed
through the Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) in association with the
World Bank. The meeting will focus on interconnected research and education
networks among South Asian countries like Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh,
Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka and others like the US research and
education networks.
The first part of the meeting will feature reports
from the South Asian countries about the status of inter-university research and
education networking infrastructure. The target audience will be researchers,
teachers, network managers and those involved in university research networks.
Faculty and technical staff from 18 public sector universities have
already been provided with the video conferencing and the remaining 32
universities will soon be part of this pool.
