NED commemorates World Heritage Day
Karachi, April 19(The News): Like all over the world, the World Heritage Day was celebrated in the Department
of Architecture and Planning, NED University of Engineering and Technology, on
Wednesday.
The event, which is the 'International Day of Monuments and
Site' is celebrated across the globe on April 18 to commemorate the beginning of
the concern for the endangered historical sites of the world.
The NED
University is currently serving as the National Secretariat of International
Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). The event was co-hosted by ICOMOS that
comprised a photographic and poster exhibition.
Arif Hasan, the architect
and planner, gave a comprehensive overview about heritage affairs in the
country. He emphasised upon building up the capacities institutions and
employing ways and means such as enforcement of statutes related to the heritage
management.
