HEC scholarships under Talent Farming Scheme
HEC scholarship test on August 17
Islamabad, Aug 13, 2008: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is holding the test for
award of scholarships under the Talent Farming Scheme on August 17, said a press
release here Tuesday.
The objective type test for the Session-2008 would
be held simultaneously at 12 cities across the country. The cities are
Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur,
Peshawar, Mardan, Mansehra and Gilgit.
The test for BSc/BSc (Hons)
candidates would begin at 10 a.m. in which candidates will have to solve three
papers.
However, the test for MSc candidates would begin at 2:30 p.m. and
the candidates will have to solve only one paper relevant to their studies. The
list of eligible candidates is available at the HEC website www.hec.gov.pk. The
roll number slips have been issued to all the candidates, however, those who do
not receive these slips by August 15 may contact Director Academics, HEC at
mnaqvi@hec.gov.pk.

Lahore matriculation result Distinction
Lahore: The matriculation result 2008 of the Punjab University Laboratory High School remained excellent
this year. A total of 29 students appeared in the exam, out of which, 16
students secured A+ and A grade while remaining students got B grade in the BISE
exam. Overall, Muhammad Faiz Iqbal bagged first position in the school by
securing 771 marks while Muhammad Armaghan Khan and Khurram Naukhez got second
and third positions by obtaining 768 and 756 marks respectively. The university
administration has congratulated school Principal Muhammad Ashfaq Chaudhry and
teachers.

Punjab University flag-hoisting
Lahore: The Punjab University will organise a flag-hoisting ceremony at
the historical building of its Allama Iqbal (Old) Campus at 8am on August 14 to
celebrate the 61st Independence Day.
According to a press statement, PU
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran will hoist the flag. Teachers, students
and employees of the university will attend the event.
To pick the
participants, the university buses will leave for the Old Campus from the
Islamic Centre, Faisal Auditorium and Residential Colony and IER at
7am.
PU results : THE Punjab University Examination Department on Tuesday
declared the results of MA Education (Secondary), MA International Relations, MA
Political Science and MA Diplomacy and Strategic Studies.
According to a
press statement, in MA Education (Secondary), session 2005-2007, 34 candidates
appeared and all were declared successful. As many as, 35 candidates appeared in
MA International Relations (semester system), session 2006-2008, and 27 were
declared successful while the result of five candidates is late.
In MA
Political Science (semester system), session 2006-2008, a total of 36 candidates
appeared and 31 were declared successful and in MA Diplomacy and Strategic
Studies (semester system), session 2006-2008, 30 candidates appeared and 21 were
declares successful while the result of five candidates is late. The detailed

Russia team visits PU:
AN eight-member Russian delegation, led by senior journalist, political and
defence analyst Peter Goncharov, visited the Punjab University on Tuesday.
The delegation is visiting the country on the invitation of Institute of
Strategic Studies.
Speaking on the occasion, leader of the delegation
said the media education was gaining importance across the world while in
developing countries the media was facing a shortage of workforce.

director Prof Dr Mughees Uddin Sheikh said in the past Pakistan had good
relations with Russia in the field of science and industry.
The Russian
delegation also visited different departments of the institute and appreciated
