FUUAST teachers appeal for funds
Karachi: Office bearers of the Teachers Societies of Federal Urdu
University for Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST) has appealed Prime
Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani to help out the university from the
financial crisis that has made it impossible to pay the salaries, utility bills
and continue the development work.
Prof. Syed Asghar Ali and Prof. Ashraf
Khurram, Presidents of Teachers Society of Faculty of Science and Faculty of
Arts respectively in a joint appeal to the PM reminded him that a meeting of the
Vice Chancellors in Higher Education Commission (HEC) held recently was told
that the PM had approved the grant for the universities but the HEC was dragging
its feet on the matter.
The increase of 20 per cent approved in the
current fiscal budget had not been disbursed to the universities as well. The
teaching and non-teaching employees of the university had been paid the salary
of the month of July but it was not possible to pay the salaries for the next
