Sindh Board of Technical Education announced Matric results
SBTE announced Matric results
| Karachi, Aug 18, 2008: Professor Syed Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari, Controller of Examinations, Sindh Board
of Technical Education, has announced the results of Technical School
Certificate Part-II (Class-X) Annual Examination-2008 on
Sunday. According to the statistics of the result, 1,846 candidates were
registered, 1,839 took up the exams, of whom 1,457 candidates were declared
successful, making the pass percentage as 79.22 this year.

Farhan
Shahadat (Roll No 5027) of Al-Habib Technical School, Orangi Town, clinched
first position with 91.13 per cent marks; Maryam Ara (Roll No 6682) from Kamal
Ata Turk Technical High School bagged second position with 89.82 per cent marks
and Rida Afroze (Roll No 5091) from D.M.R. Technical High School secured third
position with 88.34 per cent marks.
Out of 1457 successful candidates, 59
obtained A-one Grade; 395 A Grade; 472 B Grade; 212 C Grade, while only five
candidates passed the exams in D Grade. The results of 314 candidates have been
withheld for want of registration or non-submission of Class IX marks-sheet with

Hyderabad HSC Part-II Humanities results out
Hyderabad: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education
Hyderabad has announced the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate
part-II (class-XII) Humanities group, annual examinations 2008.
Among the
boy students, Asad Ali, son of Abdul Samad Gabol, seat No.107812; Ghulam Nabi,
son of Noor Mohammad Brohi, seat No.115662; and Hubdar Ali, son of Liaquat Ali
Waswano, seat No.107389 have secured first, second, and third positions by
obtaining 784, 782 and 772 marks, respectively.
All position holders were
students of Government Higher Secondary School Mahar Ali Jamali,
Nawabshah.
Among girl students, Aisha, daughter of Abdul Wahab Memon,
seat No. 100315 of Government Girls College Hyderabad; and Farheen, daughter of
Mohammad Ali Abbasi, seat No. 109573 of Government S.L Girls College Unit No.6
Latifabad Hyderabad; secured first and second positions by obtaining 849 and 815
marks, respectively.
Third position was bagged by Farkhunda Kowkab,
daughter of Rasheed Ahmed Sajid Rajput, seat No. 103702 of Government Degree
Girls College Kotri by obtaining 806 marks.
A total number of 7,356
regular/private students, including 3,017 girls, appeared in the humanities
group examinations out of which 5,383 students, including 2,260 girls, were
declared pass while result of 101 students has been withheld for one or other
reason.
The percentage on the whole is 73.17 per cent.
Not a
single student among the boys and girls students has passed in A-I grade while

British Council fetes students off to UK
Karachi: British Council and UK Alumni organised Saturday a
pre-departure event for more than 100 postgraduate and undergraduate students
who are going to universities and colleges in Great Britain for the
September/October 2008 session.
British Council Education UK Manager Hina
Baloch gave a presentation in which she gave useful tips for students while they
stay in the United Kingdom for their studies.
She said that the event
provided an opportunity for students to prepare for what they can expect once
they start their lives as students in the UK, as it provided helpful advice on
travel plans, visa formalities, accommodation, things to carry, opening bank
accounts and other such necessary things.
She said that all of them will
leave for UK in the second week of September as most of them now have their
IELTS results, visa and unconditional offers from their
universities.
Three UK alumni, including Mariam Reza from Cambridge
University and two others from the Brunel University and the Manchester
University also shared their experiences, and answered many questions that were
posed by the students.
Baloch said similar events were organised at
Lahore and Islamabad for students at the same time, while another one will be
held in Peshawar on August 20.
She said that the event is a good
exercise to build relations with students while they are in the UK rather than
do it after they complete their studies. ppi

Sindh University announces MA final results
Hyderabad: The University of Sindh (SU) announced the results of the annual examination of 2007
(College side) of the MA (Pass) final here on Saturday. According to the
announcement, a total of 7,370 candidates appeared in the examination in
subjects including English, Sindhi, Urdu, Economics, Islamic Culture, Political
Science, International Relations, Sociology, General History and Muslim History
. In all, about 5,220 candidates cleared all the subjects while 1,918 candidates
failed. Those who secured first division were 175, while 4,593 candidates
secured second division and 452 candidates passed the examination in third
division. The examinations department of the university has withheld the result
of 232 candidates.

SU conducts pre-entry test for MS, M.Phil programmes
Hyderabad: The University of Sindh conducted on Sunday the pre-entry test for
admissions to MS and M.Phil programmes for 2008 session to biotechnology,
computer science, freshwater biology, fisheries, Pakistan Studies and sociology
disciplines.
The entry test was conducted at the Institute of Mathematics
and Computer Science (IMCS) under the Sindh University Testing Center. A total
of 71 candidates submitted their admission forms while 70 candidates appeared in
the entry test for admissions to five disciplines.
Pro-Vice Chancellor,
University of Sindh, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, accompanied the deans of the
concerned faculties i.e. Dr GM Seehar, Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Registrar
Muhammad Saleh Rajar, Coordinator Sindh University Testing Center Dr Lutfullah
Mangi, Director STC Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon, Dr M Raees Ahmed, Director Post
Graduate Studies, and heads of the concerned disciplines monitored the
arrangements.
She also visited all the four examination blocks and
inspected the arrangements taken to conduct the test. Dr Shaikh, while touching
the button of Optical Marks Reader (OMR), inaugurated the result process, which
was witnessed by all members of the test committee.
According to the
result announced jointly by Coordinator of the STC, Dr Lufullah Mangi, Director
Admissions Muhammad Ali Roshan and Director of STC Dr Riaz Memon, 22 candidates
out of 70 candidates had qualified the test while securing 50% or above score
out of 100 marks.
According to the result in biotechnology, all four
candidates Miss Fahmeeda Soomro, Miss Naila Khawaja, Miss Najma Mastoi and Miss
Safia Lashari secured above 50% score and were declared qualified. While in
computer science, among 32 candidates only five candidates namely Aftab Ahmed,
Mujeeb Rehman, Saba Nasir, Miss Uzma and Miss Mehreen qualified the test. In
freshwater bology and fisheries, a total of nine candidates appeared in the test
and only six candidates were passed. They were Miss Shahnila Shaheen, Ashraf
Ali, Ghulam Muhammad, Sabir Hussain, Muhammad Hanif and Bushra Ghani.
In
Pakistan Studies, among six candidates only two candidates i.e. Ali Akbar and
Fazal Khan passed the test. While in sociology, among 19 candidates, five Miss
Yasmeen, Muhammad Ajmal, Jameel Ahmed, Muhammad Ali and Zakir Hussain passed the
