SU announced BSc Part-II results out
Hyderabad, Aug 28, 2008: About half the students who appeared in examinations
for BSc Part-II failed to get through all the subjects, according to result
announced by the University of Sindh on Wednesday.
A total of 2,576 of
4,320 candidates passed all the subjects, 221 secured the first class, 2,204
obtained the second and 151 made it to the third while result of 707 candidates
had been withheld over objections raised by the conduct and top secret branches,

Classes in colleges remain suspended
Karachi: Due to the clash between two students organisations that claimed
at least four lives in University of Karachi on Tuesday, the government colleges
across the city were severely affected. Classes were suspended in most of the
colleges while some tension in others was also reported.
The attendance
in government colleges remained thin on Wednesday while students who attended
colleges including girls had to return home due to suspension of classes. There
was some anxiety in several colleges early morning especially Govt Colleges for
Boys, National College, Islamia College (Boys), DJ Science College, SM and Jamia
Milia Colleges.
Sindh Professors and Lecturers' Association (SPLA)
stressed that government should take serious measures for the security of
students and the student organisation should not be armed under any
circumstances. The SPLA said that there should be some kind of mechanism to
control these organisations from carrying arms in the institutes'
premises.
According to teachers of govt colleges classes will remain
suspended on Thursday (today) while students contacted said they
were advised not to attend college for the next couple of days. The News

Isra University admission date extended
Hyderabad: The Isra University on Wednesday extended to Aug 29 the date for submission of application forms for
admission to various degree programmes in the university.
The admission
test would be held on Aug 31 at 10am at Isra University campus on Hala Road and
the forms were available at the Isra University admissions office and Soneri
Bank Hyderabad, the university said.

Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) admission schedule
Hyderabad: The registrar of the Mehran University of Engineering
and Technology (MUET) advised the students who wanted to apply for admission to
the first year of engineering, city and regional planning and architecture to
obtain forms and prospectus from designated branches of the HBL from Sept 1 to
15.
He said that the designated HBL branches were; Sindh University old
campus, Hyderabad, Station Road, Dadu, Bunder Road, Larkana, Frere Road Sukkur,
Masjid Road, Nawabshah, Main Bazaar, Sanghar, Jinnah Road, Mirpurkhas, Station
Road, Badin, National Highway, Thatta, Mehran Hotel, Karachi and Mehran
University, Jamshoro.
ANNIVARSARY: The 27th death anniversary of
late professor Nabi Bux Daudpota, founder director of the Institute of Business
Administration (IBA) of the University of Sindh, was observed on
