Induction of 30,000 graduates into NIP on the cards
Islamabad: The Ministry of Youth Affairs will induct 30,000 fresh
graduates into its National Internship Programme (NIP) to make them skilled in
various fields, sources in the ministry told APP on Sunday. They said
applications for the induction of new interns would be invited through
electronic and print media in the coming week. They said unemployed graduates
and postgraduates below the age of 25 would be eligible to apply for the
internship. They said appointments of the applicants as internees would be
conditional to verification of their relevant documents by National Database and
Registration Authority (NADRA). The ministry is working on a comprehensive plan
to train the skilled youths so as to enable them to play their role in
development of the country, the sources said, adding, the ministry had already
provided employment opportunities to around 22,000 young graduates through the
NIP. They said that external candidates and unemployed postgraduates and
graduates who had completed 16 years of formal education in any discipline from
any of the HEC-recognised universities and colleges would be appointed for one
year with a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000. They said a plan titled 'Economic
Empowerment of Youth' of the ministry would harness potential of the young
educated generation in the right direction by imparting training and offering
internships. The ministry is also working to increase coordination among skill
development institutes to run youth-oriented programmes effectively, they said.
The sources said the plan was aimed at providing financial relief to fresh
graduates and keeping them engaged in acquiring additional knowledge and real
lifework experience. After a successful completion of one-year internship,
certificates will be awarded to the interns. app
