UVAS Lahore online computerized test
Online test to recruit teachers at UVAS
Lahore, Aug 13: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, will
introduce an online computerized test to evaluate and shortlist the candidates
for various teaching posts. According to a press release here on
Wednesday, the first test of its kind will be held on August 15, 2009, on the
university premises. The idea behind introducing the test is to make the
selection process more transparent and effective. The test will help
judge/evaluate the candidatesí knowledge about the relevant subjects and their
general aptitude. While the general aptitude test will have three parts
i.e. English, analytical and general knowledge questions. The candidates
who obtain 60 per cent marks in the computerized test will be interviewed to
check their communication skills and the high scorers will have to appear before
the selection board for final selection. The list of eligible candidates
for the computerised test has already been uploaded on the university website
www.uvas.edu.pk. The name of the candidates, who qualify for interview, will
also be uploaded on this site. Separately, call letters will also be
issued to the successful candidates through courier service for final evaluation
and selection by the selection board of the university.The news

Incentive package announced for Punjab college teachers
Lahore: The Provincial Education Minister Mian Mujtaba
Shuja-ur-Rehman has announced a handsome incentive package for Punjab public
sector college teachers including M.Phill allowance, revised Ph.D allowance for
arts and language teachers and Performance Bonus Allowance of rupees 50,000 for
2000 teachers every year. He was addressing a press conference to announce an
incentive package for the college teachers at the Civil Secretariat here
Wednesday. The existing Ph.D allowance for Arts and Humanities teachers has been
increased from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 5000 while M. Phil allowance has been fixed at 50
% of the Ph.D allowance in their respective subject. At present, Rs. 10,000 and
Rs. 5000 are being paid to the Science teachers and arts and humanities teachers
respectively. The Minister said that the notification of the regularization of
the services of 653 contract lecturers is being issued while the rest will be
regularized after the completion of their professional record from their
respective colleges. The Minister said that the honorary teaching assistance
would be awarded five additional marks for their teaching experience during
their recruitments in the public service commission in future if they fulfill
the other departmental conditions. The Minister said that the Chief Minister
Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given approval to award 50,000
performance bonus allowance to 2000 college teachers in the province from the
next academic year. He said that in an other scheme 5 Marla plots would also be
given to the college teacher for their good performance in the Board results.

Prof Ziaullah passes away
Lahore: Assistant Professor Punjab University and
former member Syndicate, Ziaullah Shah breathed his last late Tuesday after a
fatal heart attack. According to PU public relations official the Namaz-e-Janaza
will be held Wednesday in Raniwal Syeda, Jalalpur Jattan road, near University
of Gujrat. Vice Chancellor PU, Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has expressed condolence
on the sad demise of late Zia ullah Shah and remembered his meritorious services
for the university.

IJT condoles death of Prof Ziaullah
Lahore: Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) condoled death of
Punjab University (PU) Assistant Professor Ziaullah Shah who died on Tuesday
night due to heart failure. Qaiser Sharif IJT Nazim for PU Chapter,acknowledged
the services rendered by late professor for promoting the education and his role
for students' training. Qaiser termed his death as a great loss not only for PU
but also for all the students. He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal
peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss

Attack on PU staff condemned
Lahore: All employees' groups of the Punjab University have strongly condemned
the attack on the PU staff and guards by the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT)
activists with the help of external elements. According to a press release here
on Wednesday, in a circular, Ittefaq Group Chairman Javed Iqbal Siddiqi and
General Secretary Shakil Mirza said the group denounced the incident which took
place on Monday and demanded the university administration take strict action
against the responsible elements. PU Technical Staff Association
representatives, including President Saifur Rehman Attique and Secretary Ghulam
Abbas Lodhi, also condemned the incident.The news
