Admissions process hits another delay
Karachi, Aug 7: Admissions to government colleges which started under the
Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) on Monday are sure to be delayed as the Board
of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has yet to issue marks sheets to the
students of SSC Part II Science - a compulsory requirement for the submission of
admission forms to the designated bank branches.
According to the
schedule, BSEK was to issue marks sheets from August 15 and the entire process
of distribution should have been completed by August 19, as stated by Acting
Controller of Examination Bizatullah Khan. This means that the marks
sheets in question will take another couple of days to be delivered to
candidates, commented a senior educationist.
The BSEK was already under
tremendous pressure owing to its blunders during the SSC Part II Science
results, in which failed students were declared passed and vice versa, and
several students were declared absent from papers they had appeared
in.
Under these peculiar circumstances, the mark sheets for these
students are yet to be compiled by the BSEK. The procedure is going to take
another 15 days as deliveries have to be made town wise when, in actuality, they
should have been delivered days ago so that the students could have applied for
admissions to colleges on time.
The CAP had announced August 21 as the
date for submission of forms. The BSEK will obviously be unable to produce the
necessary updated documents to the students by this date.
This mess
will, in turn, affect the entire education system with nobody taking
responsibility for the blunders. One educationist is of the opinion that the
daily changes taking place in the system are the root of the adversity affecting
the entire sector.
Although results for the general group were announced
a month earlier, marks sheets are yet to be distributed - because they were
published on Monday. As a result of this, distribution will start from August 16
which is sure to interfere with the ongoing centralised admission process.
At present board officials are busy scrutinising SSC Part II papers of
both the general and science groups, said Bizatullah Khan Acting Controller of
Examination.
According to the BSEK, mark sheets for the
science group have been sent for publication and would be distributed from
August 15 onwards. The town-wise dates for delivery of marks sheets to schools
are August 15 for the District Central, August 16 for District West, August 17
for South, August 18 for East and August 19 for District Malir. The news
