British Council holds pre-departure meeting of students
LAHORE, Aug 9: The annual pre-departure event
for students leaving to study in the United Kingdom (UK) was held on Wednesday
at the British Council. The UK Education Department of the British Council and
the UK alumni gave students insight on student life in the UK.
According
to a press release issued by British Council, the purpose of the pre-departure
was to give students useful information on lifestyle in the UK and things that
they should take with them. The event attracted more than 70 students who are
leaving this fall for college in the UK. Students got the opportunity to
converse with other students and exchange contact information so that they can
stay in touch once they get to UK. Falcon Education and Consultancy Services
sponsored the event.
Each student received a pre-departure booklet and a
map. Tariq Malik, UK Education manager at the British Council, also told
students all they needed to know.
Two British alumni, Ali Tariq and
advocate Momina Randhawa Wahla were also invited to share their experiences with
students. Ali Tariq did his MSc in Human Rights from London School of Economics
in 2006. Momina Randhawa did her LLM in International State Law from London
School of Economics in 2004. They shared useful information on studying and
working in the UK, and also regaled the participants with personal anecdotes
from their time spent in London. Daily times
