Centralised Admission Policy 2007: 83,700 admissions to Class-XI expected
KARACHI, Aug 8: More than 83,700 students are
expected to be admitted to Class-XI this year, Sindh colleges director general,
Prof. Dr Rafique Ahmed Siddiqui, said Tuesday while announcing the Centralized
Admission Policy (CAP) 2007. The policy is applicable to students applying for
first year (Class-XI) in 118 colleges and 32 higher secondary schools in
Karachi.
Over 8,000 application forms were sold on the first day of
distribution, Dr Siddiqui said. The forms are available at 41 branches of Habib
Bank Limited (HBL) in the city. The cost (per form) is Rs 100 and the submission
deadline is August 21. The deadline might be extended, however, because the
Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) still hasn't issued mark sheets to
students, Dr Siddiqui said.
Moreover, students who had passed their 'O'
levels should submit their forms only at the Hassan Square and Mansfield Road
branches of HBL.
The number of claim counters has been increased to 13
(as opposed to 10 last year). Seven counters have been reserved for women, and
three for men. Dr Siddiqui advised students and their parents to speak to staff
at the claim counters for queries and complaints. Moreover, 23 CAP members would
be available at these claim counters. They will also visit HBL branches to
ensure that the form-issuance and submission process goes
smoothly.
Meanwhile, around 900 posts of lecturers are lying vacant in
colleges and higher secondary schools in Karachi. The posts have been vacant for
the past two years, and only 200 fresh graduates were given jobs under the Prime
Minister's National Internship Program (NIP). Daily times
