GCU arranges condolence reference for Prof Muhammad Rashid
LAHORE, Aug 22: A condolence reference was arranged at the Government
College University (GCU) on Tuesday, paying tribute to late professor Muhammad
Rashid – an economist and the GCU former principal – for his services to the
nation, said a press release issued by the GCU. "Professor Rashid was a stalwart
of the GCU's economics department and a nice person," GCU vice chancellor
professor Dr Kahlid Aftab said.
He said that Rashid had observed official norms
thoughout his service and remained devoted to intellectual erudition. The VC
said, "The professor's demise is a great loss to the varsity and the nation. The
GCU faculty will continue his mission." He said that the GCU would arrange a
comprehensive condolence reference soon, in which the late professor's
contemporaries, friends, relatives and intellects would be invited to express
their views on Rashid's life. Former GCU principal MA Khan and professor Ahmed
Hussian also attended the reference. The participants prayed for the late
