IJT rally blocks Shahra-e-Faisal
KARACHI, Aug 24: An Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) protest rally blocked
Shahrah-e-Faisal, and as a result backed up traffic for miles on end on both
sides of the road Thursday afternoon. The rally was organised to protest the
death of Hafiz Abdur Rehman at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in
a clash on August 15 between two student groups: the IJT and the Punjabi
Students Association (PSA).
"Under the leadership of the Nazim-e-Aala,
you can see that the IJT cadre in front of you are demonstrating with undue
calm. If our demands are not met, however, they will unleash their anger and
will rise up in arms," one of the people in the rally announced over a
loudspeaker. The demands included firing the SHO of the Risala Police Station,
and bringing the slain IJT leader's killers to justice. Daily times
