62,000 CAP forms sold Form submission date extended
KARACHI, Aug 21 - In order to facilitate students seeking admissions in Karachi colleges, the
Centralized Admission Policy (CAP) Committee has extended the forms submission
date till August 25, 2007.
Chairman CAP Committee
Dr Rafiq Ahmed Siddiqui said that the forms submission date could further be
extended in case of a possible delay by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi
(BSEK), Agha Khan Board and institutes of O levels in providing consolidated
marks sheets to their candidates.
He said that all admissions would be
provided purely on merit. He said candidates with a gap in their academic career
could also apply, but five marks per year gap would be deducted from their total
marks.
Some 83,700 admissions to Class XI in Karachi are expected to be given
while the number of admissions last year was 82500. The admission forms are
available at 41 designated branches of Habib Bank in different parts of the
city. The duly filled forms could be submitted to the same branch till August
25.
The CAP has also set up 41 information centres in the city where senior
education officials, besides CAP Committee members, are available to guide the
admission seekers and their parents about the procedure of the
exercise.
There are 118 colleges and 32 higher secondary schools functioning
in the city. Out of them, 55 colleges and 15 higher secondary schools are for
male and the rest for female students.
The classes for new entrants are
expected to commence in mid of September, 2007. It may be noted that 62000
admission forms have so far been sold. PPI
