Chairing a meeting to review performance of various departments of the district government on Thursday, he said that the Education Department would ensure that the furniture was manufactured according to the specification. The firms that did not manufacture the furniture accordingly would be penalised, he added.

The district nazim also directed the Sports Department to allocate 10-kanal land for a gymnasium. He asked the department to conduct sports at district level and said that the government would give a grant to the department for the purpose.

He asked the department concerned to form a five-member committee to monitor the disbursement of 12 instalments of the Food Support Programme.

The meeting was informed that a mechanical vacuum sweeper of Rs 9.4 millions, imported from Australia, had started cleaning roads on experiment basis, adding that another such cleaner would also be bought soon.

The meeting was told that 12 waste enclosures had been constructed at the GOR 1, 2 and 3, and the Government College for Women, Samanabad, Lorry Adda and at some other places.
