Hafsa students killed with phosphorus

PESHAWAR, Aug 2: Hizb-ut-Tahrir, a band religious outfit on Wednesday accused the security forces of burning the students of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa with white phosphorous and later on buried them in combined graves near a beverage factory, located near Humak Model Town, Rawalpindi.

The band outfit alleged that General Musharraf was fulfilling the American agenda in order to put the civilian and army at the loggerhead besides dividing the Muslims on the basis of Shia-Sunni, inter-provincial crisis and on the name of moderate and extremists. Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, the deputy spokesman of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir, NWFP chapter, Imran Yousafzai, said the Lal Masjid bloodshed had left many questions unanswered in the minds of the entire nation. "The aftermath of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafia has deteriorated the situation and the Muslims have started killing each other in shape of attacks on military and police convoys that is ultimately fulfilling the US agenda," he said and added neither the army could totally eliminate the civilians nor the civilians could purge army but a turmoil had been created that would help serve the US interest in the region.

Describing cruelty carried out in the military operation on July 3, Yousafzai said the security forces had burnt the innocent students with white phosphorous and later on buried them in combined graves near a beverage factory, located near which was shocking. "The federal minister for religious affairs Ijazul Haq had admitted in front of media men at Lal Masjid that white phosphorous chemicals were used during military operation against the students of the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa," he said and recalled that when the US used phosphorous in Faluja, the whole world raised voice against it. The government of Pakistan he said had renewed the tragedy of Faluja by using these chemicals against religious students in Islamabad. He alleged that according to eye-witness the government personnel had buried hundreds of dead students in combined graves by digging it with heavy machineries in Rawalpindi without any religious rituals, while body parts, carried in seven trucks, were buried in Mianwali.

He claimed that according to Islamabad police personnel, they had seen burnt dead bodies of about 60 to 70 children at the Jamia Hafsa. Similarly hundreds of religious students were still missing, he added. He said that the military operation against the students of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa had been completed, but the government had to answer many questions of the masses, as to where are those thousands of male and female students of the seminary.

Replying a question, he said that the US wanted Pakistan army and the masses at loggerhead for completion of its agenda. He said that the US could not attack any part of Pakistan due to fear. He said that the US wanted to divide the Muslims on various lines, including Shia-Sunni and inter-provincal crisis, moderates and extremists and. He went on to say that Khalifat was the only solution to all these problems being faced by Ummah, as the people were fed up with the present system. Yousafzai said that the Hizb-ut-Tahrir would hold world conference in connection with the anniversary of the end of Khilafat on August 12 at Jakarta, Indonesia, which would be attended by thousands of people from across the globe. To another question that what role, the organization had played during the Lal Masjid crises, he said they had held protest demonstrations across the country adding due to some restrictions by government they could not openly held activities.
