CWP expresses concern over increase of fees in private schools
ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: Consumer Watch Pakistan (CWP) has expressed its concern
on the immense increase of fees in many private schools and colleges in
Islamabad.
Several parents have approached the CWP and have declared such
increases as unfair and unbearable. Parents belonging to the lower and middle
income groups are disturbed as they are eager to provide quality education to
their children but are faced with serious financial difficulties, the CWP said
in a statement.
The CWP has urged the Education Ministry to take serious
note of this situation and take appropriate steps to ensure that private schools
charge fees that are fair and justified.
The CWP also demanded the
Education Ministry to immediately establish and strengthen the private schools
management regulatory authority (PSMRA) to monitor the performance of private
schools and hold them to account with parents' concerns and quality issues. Daily times
