Orientation of SZABIST's 13th batch held
KARACHI, Aug 5: Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) held an orientation ceremony for
its thirteenth batch of students at a local hotel Saturday.
Newly
enrolled students along with their parents participated in the ceremony. These
students were welcomed by their seniors and faculty members.
Former
governor of Sindh Barrister Kamal Azfar was the chief guest. He congratulated
new students on their admission and welcomed them to SZABIST. "The 21st century
belongs to the youth of South Asia. Remember the goals that you set for yourself
and effectively utilize your resources to achieve them," he said. The only
solution to the current political, financial and social crisis is the transfer
of power to the people of the country, he added.
SZABIST Project Director
Senator Dr Javaid Leghari talked about the cultural aspect of SZABIST during his
welcoming address. "SZABIST is much more than simply an educational institution.
It has a unique culture that has developed over the last decade," he said. The
academic session will commence from Monday, August 6. In this batch, 550
students have enrolled in BS, MS and PhD programmes. The program office said
that these students were selected through an online testing service out of
35,000 applicants. Daily times
