Teacher shortage another hurdle for students
Karachi, Aug 8: Students of the upcoming academic session beginning in September
will face an acute shortage of teachers as about 900 posts of subject
specialists have been lying vacant for the last two years.
This was
disclosed by Director General Colleges and the Chairman of Centralised Admission
Policy, Rafiq Siddiqui while answering a question of journalists at a press
briefing held at Government Girls College PECHS on Tuesday. Also present on the
occasion were Director College Inspection Professor Jamal, Secretary CAP
Professor Asghar and Principal College Sabiha Pervez.
Giving details of
college admissions, he said that students would collect their forms from 41
branches of HBL and would submit them along with mark sheets by August 21 at the
latest. To another question, regarding delay in issuing of marks sheets from
BSEK, he said CAP would extend the date to facilitate all
students.
Approximately 83,700 students are expected to get admission
this year as compared to previous year when 82,500 students were admitted into
government-run colleges. He also said that students that appeared in Aga Khan
and other Boards, such as O levels, could collect the form from any branch but
could submit them at only two branches - Karsaz and
Mansfield.
Furthermore, he said the academic session of colleges is
expected to start from 15th September, depending on the resolution of the mark
sheet issue faced by BSEK. If the problem persists, classes will be delayed till
October. The news
