NWFP to study Turkish education system
PESHAWAR, Aug 10: The NWFP government has agreed to establish a university
in Peshawar and model schools in various districts of the province in
collaboration with Turkey and a delegation of the provincial government will
soon visit the country to review its educational system.
The decision was
taken at a meeting presided over by provincial Education Minister Maulana Fazle
Ali Haqqani. The meeting was attended by representatives of a non-government
organisation engaged in promotion of Turkish education system in Pakistan and
officials of the departments concerned.
Maulana Haqqani said that keeping
in view the present situation, a uniform education system compatible with the
new education system of Turkey would be introduced in the province to provide
equal opportunities to the people of all strata of society.

Foundation's chairman Nadeem Ahmad said general, religious and technical
education were important sectors linked with industries under the new education
system in Turkey. He said the salaries and incentives given to teachers in
Turkey were compatible with other sectors.
Members of the delegation
offered their services for providing education in Turkish style to boy and girl
students in the province under a scholarship scheme, teachers' training and
establishment of model schools and universities, specially in the areas affected
by the earthquake of 2005. APP
