5,550 students take UET entrance test
PESHAWAR, Aug 20: Around 5,550 candidates from
NWFP and FATA including Afghan refugees appeared in the NWFP University of
Engineering and Technology (UET) entrance test for undergraduate engineering
programmes.
According to a UET press release, the test was conducted
simultaneously at the Colonel Sher Khan Stadium in Peshawar, the Abbottabad
Centre and the Bannu Centre. 4,060 male and female candidates appeared at the
Peshawar centre, 980 candidates at the Abbottabad centre and 520 candidates at
the Bannu Centre.
UET Vice Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani
expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for the entrance test. He said
the UET provided maximum facilities to prospective students. "For the first
time, the university offered candidates cold drinks and napkins to make them
feel comfortable. The university will also arrange an orientation week for
successful candidates," he added.
Khyber Medical University Vice
Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Daud Khan, TEA Director Dr Abdur Rauf Jamil, Khyber
Medical College Principal Dr Fazl-e-Ahmad, a subject specialist and staff from
the Frontier Constabulary and Peshawar police were also present on the
occasion.
The UET Admissions Directorate officials, including Admissions
Convener Prof Dr Khan Gul Jaidoon and Admissions Deputy Director Rubina Tahir
are supervising the admission process. Results will be available 24 hours after
the test on the website .
The admission process will start from Monday,
August 20. Successful candidates are instructed to submit application forms to
the Admissions Directorate by August 31, 2007. Daily times
