BIEK to issue model papers on 15th
KARACHI, Dec 04: Chairman
Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) Anwar Ahmed Zai has said that the
BIEK would issue model papers on December 15, 2007 as per proposal for
introducing new scheme of studies at intermediate level examination. The BIEK
is the only examination board of the province, which prepared such model papers
under the supervision of senor professors, Prof Zai said, while talking to us on Monday.
It is pertinent to mention that Sindh Professors and Lectures
Association (SPLA) has expressed recently its serious concern over the slow
procedure of introducing new scheme of studies at intermediate level
examination.
According to SPLA statement, nearly half of the academic session
has been passed in the institutions of the province, but no model papers,
comprising of three portions, including objective, subjective and short
questions, have been prepared yet by all examination boards of the province,
while they were bound to prepare such papers to aware the students regarding the
expected changes in the examination papers.
The representatives of the SPLA
have also alleged that Sindh Text Book Board has failed to publish the books as
per new pattern by following its past practice, and pointed out, How the papers'
pattern can be changed in this situation when the students, teachers and parents
are still uninformed regarding the possible changes.
They also demanded
Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Education Minister Shujat Ali Baig and
all Chairmen of the boards to put off the imposition of the new examination
pattern temporarily until the preparation of the model papers and
availability of the textbooks to prevent the students from their academic
loss.
It is worth mentioning that the implementation of the new scheme of
studies at intermediate level examination was decided in an Inter-Provincial
Education Ministers Conference. However, Sindh Governor Dr Ishraul-Ebd Khan and
IBCC had also approved the new scheme.
Prof Zai said, The BIEK is exempted
from such allegations made by the SPLA, because the BIEK made incredible efforts
during the last three months to prepare the model papers, which is scheduled to
be issued on Dec 15 to the teachers of the institutions. We are ready and
prepared to implement the new scheme in the city. In this regard, the BIEK will
organise a workshop for senior teachers in January 2007, in which the newly
prepared model papers will be presented in front of the teachers to obtain their
views.
Keeping in view of the current situation, it is not easy for the
authorities concerned to implement the new scheme of studies in the province.
While, the implementation of such pattern in the province is need of hour,
because the pattern will force students towards hard studies. According to new
pattern, question paper will contain 50 percent objective pattern questions, 30
percent short answer types and rest 20 percent for easy type. The Nation
