Defence library's 16th year
KARACHI, Dec 12, 2007: The Defence Central Library is organising various
activities from Dec 13 to 15 to celebrate its 16th anniversary, said a press
release.
The main event of the anniversary celebrations is a three-day
book exhibition being held at the library premises from 9am to 9pm starting from
Dec 13. Leading publishers of national and international repute are
participating in the event.
The publishers have promised to give
substantial rebate on book purchase and make available the latest publications.
Caretaker Sindh Education Minister Shujaat Ali Baig will inaugurate the
exhibition. A seminar on "Role of public libraries in socio-intellectual
development of society" will also be held on Dec 13 at the library's
auditorium.
Prominent personalities including Obaidullah Baig, Ameena
Syed and Rahat Kazmi are scheduled to speak on the occasion.
Other events
include literary competitions among students, a drama festival, a mushaira and a
sham-i-ghazal. Food, fun and entertainment stalls will also be established. Dawn
