Only HEC, Wafaqul Madaris!

LAHORE, Dec 13, 2007: An election tribunal of the Lahore High Court has observed that any sanad/ degree or certificate issued by any institution/madarasa not affiliated with the Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al-Islamia Pakistan or the Higher Education Commission has no value. The tribunal consisting of Justice Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi and Justice Syed Hamid Ali Shah made this observation as they dismissed an appeal of a female candidate from PP-206, Multan, whose nomination papers were rejected by the returning officer.

The RO had rejected her papers on the ground that the certificate issued by Darul Aloom Mehmooda Dhandi Azeemabaz, Bannu was not acceptable as it was not affiliated with the Wafaq-ul-Madaris. The RO observed that the appellant failed to produce any evidence showing affiliation of the said madrassa with Wafaq-ul-Madaris. The HEC deputy director met the tribunal and verified that the Darul Aloom Mehmooda was not recognised by the commission and the sanad issued to the appellant was not acceptable. The News
