IJT warns govt to fulfill students demands
PESHAWAR, Dec 10, 2007: Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) NWFP provincial Shora meeting was held
presided over by provincial IJT nazim Muhammad Ajmal Khan in his office at Chock
Yadgar here on Sunday. All divisional nazims and other member participated in
the meeting. In the meeting IJT decided to prepare strategy and decision for
third phase of 'Save Pakistan Movement' while decided to continue struggle till
to the reinstatement of deposed judges, independence of judiciary, media and
restoration of students union.
The provincial shora of IJT demanded of all the
political parties to boycott from the upcoming general elections scheduled to be
held on January 8, 2008 and join continued struggle of students, lawyers and
journalists against dictatorship and save the country sovereignty. IJT NWFP
nazim Muhammad Ajmal Khan added that if politicians not fight for restoration of
constitution it would damage the country because of President Musharraf
unconstitutional and illegal steps. "Through pre-planed conspiracies, the
country is dragged towards destruction," he added. He further asked the
government to fulfill demands of the students and common people otherwise they
would continued their agitation against it. He went on to say that students
strength force should not be ignored because once they came out on roads, no one
would stop this flow of flood. The IJT provincial chief said that students made
a good history in past and rendered several sacrifices for the sake of the
country and this time, they would also leave no stone unturn in this regard. F.P
Five IJT activists held for protesting emergency
KARACHI, Dec 08, 2007: The Peerabad police arrested
five Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) activists near Banaras Chowk for protesting the
imposition of emergency, the curbs on the media and the loss of lives in Swat.
The IJT held a protest demonstration after the Friday prayers.
Police
had to use batons and tear gas to disperse the activists and they took five IJT
activists - Nadeem, Faizan, Yasir, Babar Khan and Tayyab - into custody for
violation of Section 144.
Mohammad Riaz, the spokesman of the IJT, said that the nazim of IJT Pakistan, Nasarullah Khan, was peacefully
addressing the activists when a heavy contingent of police got to the scene and
tried to stop them. Riaz said that some of the activists put up a resistance so
the police started baton charging and using tear gas. He said that some
activists were injured but the injuries were minor. Riaz added that he doesn't
know exactly how many activists were taken into police custody.
Peerabad
SHO Rustam Khatak said that the police tried to stop them but they didn't
listen, and instead pelted stones on the police. After that the police had to
use tear gas and batons to disperse them. Daily Times
