Institute of Business Management (IBM) 10th convocation
KARACHI, Dec 09, 2007: The largest batch of the Institute of Business Management (IBM)
graduated Saturday at the institute's 10th convocation. A total of 530 students
graduated this year, of which 50 had completed their undergraduate degrees while
480 had completed their MBA. Nine graduates received gold medals for remarkable
performance and 19 received merit certificates.
The convocation was held at
the IBM campus at Korangi Creek and was attended by graduates, their families
and friends, and the institute's faculty. However, the president of the
institute Shahjehan S Karim, who was supposed to address the graduates on their
special day, had fallen ill and so could not attend the ceremony.
The welcome
address followed by the valedictorian speech on behalf of Nida Waqar. The
keynote address was made by Jose Manuel Salazar Xiracheas, who spoke about his
experiences in the professional world and advised the students about their
futures.
It was a very emotional time for the graduating batch and their
families. Students were seen hugging and crying with each other, feeling a sense
of shared accomplishment with their fellow graduates.
Proud parents were
seen congratulating each other on their children and their friends' special day.
"It has been a really good experience studying at IBM and I am proud to
associate myself with this institute," said MBA graduate Sanam Rafiq.
Another
MBA graduate Saadia Rizvi said that though she was excited about the farewell
dinner and musical evening that the management had arranged for them and would
definitely attend it, she had also planned a night out of celebration with her
close friends. "It's a very happy day today and everyone should celebrate with
those whose big day it is," said Munaza Rahman, member of the student
council.
There was also an intercollegiate talent show followed by a musical
evening with popular artist Fakhir. Daily Times
