Jamiat: past, present and future
 |
Dec, 2007: Twenty-five students gathering from all over the country on December 23, 1947
laid down the foundation of Islami Jamiat Talaba Pakistan. Their
objective was to convey the message of (Dawah) Islam to Pakistani students,
encourage them to seek the knowledge of Islam with fondness and to struggle for
the formulation of Islamic way of life. |
In addition, Jamiat organizes
students so that that they strive for spreading the culture of Islam in the
educational institutions of Pakistan. We work for character building, increase
physical as well as cerebral capabilities and at last struggle for the
establishment of Islamic educational system in the country are fore and foremost
objectives of this great students' organization.
This year, Islami
Jamiat Talaba is going to celebrate 6oth Founding Day on the completion of its
journey of 60 years. This great journey of 6o years is result of continued
struggle and service of students.
The greatest achievement of Jamiat is
that it saved the Pakistani youth and educational institutions from the attacks
of Communism and history is a witness for it.
Jamiat has given existence
to newer and excellent traditions after doing accountability on each and every
level and occasion. During this 60 years' journey, Jamiat has seen many ups and
downs, difficulties and faced tougher circumstances too.
The whole
official machinery tried to wipe out Jamiat from its existence, our colleagues
were expelled form colleges and universities, but Jamiat did not lose its
ground, courage and consistency. As a result, the journey of Jamiat is continued
towards its destination.
Islami Jamiat Talaba is a dream of the thinkers
of Islam Mualana Sayyed Abul Aala Maudoodi (RA) and Allama Iqbal (RA).
Jamiat has played a peerless role in the character building of the
younger generation. It has introduced the culture of purposeful and positive
activities like book fairs, study circles, speaker forums, Quranic lectures,
entertainment tours, seminars, symposiums, and discussions on national as well
as international issues. During the earthquake 2005, Jamiat did a great relief
work including Eid Caravan.
Today, Jamiat has become a major role of the
contemporary Islamic movements struggling for the revival of Islam. The adopting
the culture of wearing scarf and veil by female students in Turkey and male
students determination on Islam, is a clear sign of appearing the morning of
Islamic revolution. Whereas, students' determination and consistency in
upholding the banner of Quran and Sunnah in Kashmir, Afghanistan, Palestine and
in Iraq is another picture of this context.
It would be a beginning of a
new era in the exaltation of Islam. In these circumstances, a particular class
with an organised conspiracy wants to try to deteriorate the matchless and
historical role of Jamiat. Basically, this undue criticism is an attack on
Pakistani students to keep them away from the ideology of Pakistan. But, Jamiat
as usual would continue its struggle and would never loose its ground, the path
of the Quran and Sunnah. It would fill the colours of reality in the dreams of
Allama Iqbal (RA) and Sayyed Maudoodi (RA). May Allah (SWT) give strength to
Jamiat to provide an energetic, active, painstaking, patriot and intelligent
leadership to the modern Islamic movements around the globe. The News
