KU, Baqai, FUUAST news briefs

Dec 05, 2007
KU:
Karachi University Business School (KUBS), has announced that the date for the issuance and submission of admission forms of MBA Banking & Finance has been extended up to December 8, 2007. The prospective students can collect the prospectus and admission forms from UBL Booth at Silver Jubilee Gate, KU and the Institute of Bankers Pakistan (IBP), Maulvi Tamizuddin Khan Road.

BMU:
"Clean water is important for human health. Polluted water is dangerous because it causes diseases among people," said the Vice Chancellor of Baqai Medical University (BMU), Professor Dr Syed Azhar Ahmed.

He said this while addressing a health awareness-raising programme at the BMU, Gadap campus, on Tuesday. The VC said that clean water is necessary for every part of the world where human beings live.

He said that the existence of all civilisations in this world was based on water sources. "The Himalayan Mountain is a major source for our water needs but unfortunately, it has a low quantity of iodine, which is important for human heath," he added.

He asked the people to consume boiled water to protect themselves from water-borne diseases. "Water should be boiled for at least 10 minutes other than filtering it. Health organisations also need to create awareness among the people about clean water," the VC added.

FUUAST:
The Pakistan Festival and Pak American National Alliance (Pana) announced the awarding of the 'Nishan-e-Spas' to two of veteran writers, Jamiluddin Aali and Majid Nizami for their literary, educational, journalistic and national services.

A ceremony in this regard, will be held at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Karachi, on December 6, 2007. The ceremony is being jointly organised by Pana and Daira-e-Adab-o-Saqafat International. Noted journalist Mehmood Sham will preside over the ceremony while Professor Younis Sharar will be the chief guest. The News
