New academic session at Karachi University
Karachi, Dec 28, 2007: Professor Muhammad Rais Alvi, Registrar, University of Karachi
(KU) announced on Thursday that the new academic session will start from
Tuesday, January 1, 2008. However, the graduate and postgraduate degree classes
(morning and evening) will commence from Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the
university.
Meanwhile, the controller of examinations, KU has announced
the revised timetable of the examinations of Second Professional MBBS annual
examination 2008 on Thursday. According to the press release issued, 250
candidates have been enrolled for the examinations and papers would be held from
2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Moreover, the said paper of Pharmacology would be held on
Saturday, January 5, 2008 whereas papers of Forensic Medicine and General
Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology (New Course) would be held on Monday,
January 15 and Wednesday, January 17, 2008 respectively.
In other news,
to commemorate Golden Jubilee of its foundation the Department of Microbiology,
University of Karachi is organising the 'First National Microbiology Teachers'
Training Course' from December 28 to 31.
According to an announcement on
Thursday, the newly inducted lecturers of Microbiology at the universities of
Kohat, Hazara, Quaid-e-Azam, Punjab, Malakand, Balochistan, Peshawar, and
Bahauddin Zakaria, Federal Urdu University will participate in the training
course. They will be made to learn new strategies for teaching and conducting
laboratory courses in the subject. The department will also organise a golden
jubilee Microbiology symposium at the KU's Arts auditorium on December 30 to
discuss recent advancement in the subject and its applications in food, pharma,
agriculture, medical sciences, and for the production of better anti-biotic,
vaccines, immuno-therapeutics, diagnostic regents, and pesticides. The News
