PU students distribute pro-judiciary pamphlets
LAHORE, Dec 15, 2007: Some of the Punjab University
(PU) students on Friday distributed pamphlets stressing the need for
independence of judiciary in various university departments.
The PU
students have been protesting against the suspension of the constitution and
curbs on the media for the last many weeks. They had also organised a rally a
few days ago in this connection but it was flopped owing to the involvement of
the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) activists.
The pamphlet said Pakistan was
not created to allow the army generals play with the judiciary. It said the
eight years of army rule had contributed to price hikes, unemployment and
barriers in the way of judiciary.
"It is demanded that the constitution
be resolved for the prosperity of the country," it said.
It said people
should raise black flags in their homes, wear black armbands and boycott all
those judges who took oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order. Daily Times
