PU envisions to be among top 100 world universities
LAHORE, Dec 31, 2007: Punjab University (PU) vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Muhammad Arif Butt has constituted a special
committee consisting of university faculty deans and senior faculty members to
prepare a working paper for ranking the PU in the first 100 universities of the
world.
According to a press release issued by the PU on Sunday, the
committee will submit a report after reviewing the educational development of
the university and comparing it with national and international universities.
This report will be sent to the international universities' ranking
institute.
Butt hoped that the speed of research work being carried out
in the university would help to improve the ranking of the university at an
international level. "University teachers are fully devoted to teaching and
their research papers are also published in internationally acclaimed journals
and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The university is also awarding the
Best University Teacher award to teachers to honour their services and
achievements," he said, and added, "The PU has been ranked second among
Pakistani universities by the HEC." Daily Times
