Rootsians invited to Saarc camp in Dhaka
Rawalpindi, Dec 12, 2007: The Roots School System has been selected for a youth camp of
the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) for a four-day
programme being held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from December 10 to 13.
The
programme is being held to promote mutual friendship and understanding among the
youth of Saarc countries. A total of 150 youths from eight Saarc countries,
under the age group 16-22, have joined the camp with 80 participants from the
host country and 10 each from other seven countries of the association including
India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan. All four nominations from Punjab
are of Roots School System and the visit is sponsored by the Ministry of
Culture.
Rootsians are presenting their cultural heritage via videos,
documentaries and discussions. The objective of this element is to allow every
participant to understand the daily lives of his or her peers from across
borders and to connect the youth with potential leadership qualities. The News
