UK Immigration seminar
Dec 17, 2007: Immigration Advisory Services (IAS) CEO, Keith Best, has urged the UK government
to ensure that highly skilled workers and international students are successful
in getting the visas to come to the UK when the new points-based system is
introduced next year.
Best was speaking at an orientation seminar at a
local hotel on Sunday. IAS is UK's largest charity providing representation and
advice in immigration and asylum law. They have offices in Lahore and Karachi
and Islamabad office is in the pipeline. "The immigration rules are being
tightened all the time so applicants need to apply in good time and take
competent advice where they need it.
He also said that the high refusal
rate by British High Commission was putting off the students because they were
applying elsewhere.
"The British Government and others must work to
reduce the refusal rate of student applications if it is to satisfy the Prime
Minister's initiative and not deter students who will apply to go elsewhere" he
said. The News
