University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) 125-year celebrations commence
Lahore, Dec 11, 2007: The 125-year celebrations of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences
(UVAS) started with the Inter-University Qiraat and Naat Competition on Monday.
According to a press statement, 12 participants from six universities, including
the Punjab University, the University of Education, the Minhaj University, the
Government College University, the Lahore College for Women University and the
College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Jhang participated in the
competition. Syed Khalid Hameed Kazmi from Minhaj University topped the Qiraat
competition while Hafiz Naveed Aslam from Education University and Hafiz
Muhammad Hameed Raza from Punjab University got second and third positions
respectively.
In Naat competition, Qari Ansar Qadri from Minhaj University,
Beenish Malik from Punjab University and Moeen Akram Shah from GCU stood 1st,
2nd and 3rd respectively in Naat Competition. Over all team position were
secured by Minhaj University (1st), Punjab University (2nd) and University of
Education (3rd). Speaking on the occasion UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad
Nawaz congratulated the organisers and participants as well as winners of the
competition. The Inter-University Debating Competition will be held on Tuesday
(today) while quiz and drama competitions are planned to be held on December 12
and 13 respectively. The grand entertaining ceremony will be held on Friday 14th
in which the winners of qiraat, naat, debate, quiz and drama competitions will
be awarded with prizes and certificates.
A pet and bird show will also be held
on December 18 to 19. The first part of the celebrations will commence from
December 10 to 14 and the second from December 18 to 19. Punjab Governor Lt Gen
(r) Khalid Maqbool will participate as the chief guest in the closing ceremony
