Sindh Schools reopening
Karachi: All government and private schools and colleges across Sindh
will reopen on Friday (Jan 1) after observing the 10-day winter vacation.
However, most private schools where winter vacation began on Dec 24,
instead of Dec 22, will reopen on Jan 4. Officials in the education
department were reluctant to say whether Friday could be declared holiday for
schools and colleges in the wake of a strike call given by the Sunni Rehbar
Council and supported by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to protest over the attack
on the main Ashura procession and subsequent acts of arson in the city. Dawn
