Irregularities on the rise in Education Department
Karachi: The Education Department of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has become a hub of irregularities and corruption, as the Department has no check and balance system over its employees.

Corruption has become a routine matter of the Education Department, while the higher authorities are unconcerned towards the problem. Two more cases of irregularities have been resurfaced in the Department, The Nation has learned.

The National Accountability Bureau Sindh (NAB) has also launched an inquiry against Rukhsana Siyal, Teacher Pakistan Steel Mill and Education Department CDGK, a source said and added that Executive District Officer (EDO) Education Ibrahim Kumbher has already appeared before National Accountability Bureau, Sindh, on this account to produce service records of the accused.

Rukhsana Siyal is alleged for holding two jobs in the government departments at the same time, including Pakistan Steel Mill and Education Department of the City District Government Karachi, he said.

"On the other hand, two primary school teachers including Mst Rehana and Mst Sabhia are residing in Dubai and USA respectively whereas their salaries have continuously been drawn by someone.

These two teachers belong to Primary School Liaqatabad Town and Delhi Primary School Karimabad. These cases are open violation of rules and regulations.

On the other hand, Regional Director Karachi Central of Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Regional Office, Nazir Ahmed Qidqai, has already summoned Assistant District Officer (ADO) Education (Male) Site Town, Irfan, who has allegedly been involved in deception.

The regional director has received complaint from Muhammad Waseem (PST), working in Site Town, against ADO Irfan, who fraudulently received cheque book of the complainant from the HBL, Rizvia Society Branch, and forcibly drew 500,000 rupees from the complainant's account.

In the absence of EDO Education Ibrahim Kumbher, the employees, working in the office of EDO used to observe self-generated holiday, which shows that EDO Education has completely failed to manage his office.

It is pertinent to mention here that Mr. Kumbher is not satisfied with his present job and says "I am waiting for my transfer from this office, while I would perform Namz if the competent authorities suspended me."

When EDO Education Ibrahim Kumbher was contacted by The Nation, he said that the department was also conducting inquiries on the said cases, while there was no doubt black sheep were present in the department who are trying to defame the institution. Responding to a question, he said that he was trying to get the department on the straight line.

He denied that he did not appear in the NAB during the last one year. The nation
