BZU clashes: IJT new president
BZU expels nine: IJT nazim's entry banned
Multan, Feb 04, 2008: The disciplinary committee of the Bahauddin Zakariya
University (BZU) has expelled six students forever and three others for one year
after a clash between student wings of two political parties left six students
injured, a BZU spokesman said in press statement on Sunday.
The spokesman
said the university had also banned the entry of Islami Jamiat Tulaba Nazim
Luqman Nazir and another activist Bakht Khan to the university.
IJT
activists beat six members of the People's Students Federation (PSF) on Friday
for speaking in support of a student who was beaten by them (IJT activists) for
sitting with his sister at the university canteen.
Those expelled forever
are Muzammil Noor (Commerce Department), Ghulam Jilani (Library Science
Department), Mahr Amjad (Pharmacy), Rana Khalil (BS Chemistry), Tanweer Ahmad
(Computer Sciences) and Mulazim Hussain (Islamic Studies). Those expelled for
one year are Farzan Bashir (BS Physics), Ghulam Mustafa (Pharmacy) and Rana
Kaleemullah (Mass Communication), the university spokesman added. APP
Atiq-ur-Rehman,IJT new president
Lahore: The members of Islami Jamiat Tulaba Pakistan (IJT) from
across the country have elected Atiq-ur-Rehman as their president(Nazim-e-Ala)
for the next session 2008-09. IJT central office Lahore sources said that
the elections were held in Peshawar during the three-day annual member
convention. Abdul Wadud and Hamid ur Rehman members of IJT media cell said that
more than 1300 members of IJT across the country participated in the election
and Atiq-ur-rehman was elected as president. Atiq-ur-Rehman in consultation with
central executive committee has appointed Syed Abdul Rasheed as Secretary
General IJT while Hafiz Mohammad Hassan and Raja Shoib both Assistant Secretary
General. He also nominated Sohaib Ammar Siddiqui caretaker President IJT Punjab
(south), Hafiz Nadeem(north), Ajmal Khan N.W.F.P., Nadeem Abbas Azad Kashmir,
Umar Hayat Khan Balochistan and Ali Mohammad Bardu for Sindh. App
